The Navigators are one of Newfoundland’s most energetic, entertaining, and experienced Celtic groups; made up of several well-known musicians. Since forming in November 2000 they have become one of the hardest working bands in the province and are now play often in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island.

Giving an all out or what has best been described as a “Full Throttle” performance the band is Fred Jorgensen (TinWhistles/Bodhran/Guitar/Lead Vocals), Arthur O’Brien (Guitar/Fiddle/Vocals), Paul Murphy (Drums and Vocals), Ian Chipman (Bass/Vocals).

With many acapella songs, instrumental numbers, ballads, shanties, and original songs the band has created their own sound that is suitable and comfortable doing a variety of shows from rock concerts to soft-seat auditoriums, from folk festivals to conferences, or from pubs to parties. The band is always guaranteed to give and to have a good time.

Their popular debut CD, “Dance and Sing” won the band the 2002 Music Industry of Newfoundland and Labrador Award for Roots /Traditional Group of the Year. In 2004 the band was nominated for an East Coast Music Award in The Roots/Traditional Recording Category, and later in March 2004 were one of only two groups from NL to be nominated for a Canadian Independent Music Week Award in the World Music category.

The Navigators have made several television and radio appearances over since 2002 including ASN’s Breakfast Television February 2003 and October 2002, on November 2002, as well as lending their talent to the CBC National Broadcast of, "Paying it Forward." The AHL Classic ALL-Star Game, February 2002; Molson’s Snow Jam 2003. In 2004 the band was also invited to perform at New York City's Lincoln Centre in August 2004.
